Privacy Policy

Walkingo keeps walking and hiking data on device and does not share it with third parties.

This Privacy Policy explains how Walkingo handles your data.

Summary

  • Walkingo reads outdoor walking and hiking workout data from Apple Health only after you grant permission.
  • Walkingo does not create an account for you.
  • Walkingo does not sell your data.
  • Walkingo does not upload your walking or hiking data to a backend service for the core app experience.
  • Walkingo stores processed data locally on your device so the app and widgets can load quickly.

Data Walkingo Accesses

If you choose to grant Health access, Walkingo may read:

  • outdoor walking workouts
  • hiking workouts
  • workout route data, when available from Apple Health
  • workout metrics needed to calculate walking statistics, recaps, goals, and activity detail
  • heart-rate and effort data, when available, for effort-related summaries
  • date of birth, if needed for heart-zone estimates

Walkingo does not write workout data back to Apple Health.

Photos And Media

If you choose to grant Photos access, Walkingo may show photos and videos captured around the time of an activity so they can appear with that walk or hike.

Photos access is optional. Screenshots are ignored by Walkingo’s media matching.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Walkingo may schedule local reminders, recap prompts, and new-activity notifications on your device.

These notifications are delivered locally and are used to support the app experience.

How Your Data Is Used

Walkingo uses your data to:

  • show distance, elevation, pace, streaks, trends, and activity history
  • generate weekly and monthly recap views
  • match photos and videos to activities by capture time
  • update widgets with your latest cached stats
  • keep notes, favorites, ratings, tags, and familiar routes available locally

Data Sharing

Walkingo does not share your walking, hiking, route, photo, note, tag, rating, goal, recap, or widget data with third parties for advertising, profiling, or resale.

The app is designed so that core functionality works without a remote backend. Based on the current implementation, your activity data stays on your device.

Local Storage

To improve launch speed and keep widgets current, Walkingo stores processed snapshots locally on device.

These cached snapshots are used only to support the app experience on your Apple devices.

In-App Purchases

Walkingo includes an optional tip jar. Purchases are handled by Apple’s App Store payment system.

Third-Party Analytics

Based on the current app implementation, Walkingo does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the core product flow described here.

Your Choices

You can:

  • deny Health access
  • deny Photos access
  • deny notifications
  • revoke Health access later in Apple Health settings
  • revoke Photos access later in iOS Settings
  • remove the app from your device

If Health access is denied or revoked, Walkingo may show empty states or limited functionality because walking and hiking data is required for the app’s main features.

Children’s Privacy

Walkingo is not designed specifically for children.

Changes To This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated over time as Walkingo evolves. When it changes, the version published on this page should be treated as the current version.
